I’m working on another Armour Top sweater by Ranti Studios. I’m using a lovely yellow, orange, and brown yarn from Neighborhood Fiber Co. that reminds me of the gingko leaves in the fall in my neighborhood.

Lovely post!

Tell me - the plant - is it an avocado? I planted a stone earlier this year and the leaves look very similar - I'm so excited that mine grew! x

Yes! It's an avocado. We have two that we grew from stones this year. :) it's so fun to do. My husband also managed to grow a mango tree from seed!

Oh, that’s soooo cool! And I’m so thrilled I recognised it (I’m such a rubbish horticulturist, but the leaves looked the same as on ours).

I’d hoped to grow two - I started one in a pot and one over a jar of water. The latter didn’t do anything apart from go mouldy, and I thought that the other was a dead loss too…. until when I went to chuck it away I noticed it had a root. And then it started splitting….. and then it had a shoot….. and now it’s over a foot tall and has LOTS OF LEAVES! I’m thrilled, because I didn’t think the British climate would be suitable for growing one. Mind you, it’s destined to remain a houseplant - unless it grows too tall, of course. We’ve called him ‘Stony Tony’, and I’m rather fond of him!

And wow for the mango tree - that’s extraordinary!

That's amazing! We had one some years ago that had gotten fairly talla good few feet, but then it got attacked by ants and died. 😕

Avocado ant attack?! 🐜 Francine, I am taking precautions IMMEDIATELY! Stony Tony (for that is what he is called) is so far going great guns - he has six leaves which are growing bigger and bigger, and there are some more just getting started. I am ridiculously excited that at long last I have managed to grow one, and if I so much as SEE an ant in its vicinity, well, I’m going to have serious words with it. x

I am definitely making those gingerbread muffins, I love anything with ginger in it. Will also be taking a look at that booklist, like I need more books to add to my TBR :)! I am finishing up reading The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell and listening to The Girl with the Louding Voice which I am thoroughly enjoying. Its both heartbreaking and amusing at the same time. I love the internal dialogue of the main character.
