Hello lovelies, and welcome to December.
The end of the year brings with it joy, laughter, family, delight, and a sense of wonder. It can also bring stress and overwhelm as we try to keep up with the Joneses (who the heck are they anyway?), and aim to make things perfect. This month I want you to repeat the mantra that “joy is not in things”.
When I think back on past Holiday seasons, what I remember the most is that wonderful feeling of joy and contentment: happy gatherings with friends and family sharing meals that everyone contributed to. Spending time with loved ones that I haven’t seen in ages; sparkling lights and mugs of tea or hot chocolate; sharing my traditional Holiday treats with my new friends and adopted family.
So this month above all else I encourage you to seek out the simple joys as we go headlong to the end of 2023.
Ask yourself:
What’s one simple thing I can do daily that brings me joy?
How will I radiate that light to others?
Here are your journaling prompts that are specific to December
Goals
What are my goals for December ?
What do I believe I can finish?
What am I carrying into this month from November?
What will I start?
What will I complete?
What will I say goodbye to?
How will my word support me in these goals?
How will being grateful align with my word this month?
Find a quote for the month, and add it to your journal. Feel free to do this weekly, or daily!
Decide on your reading for the month - this can be a book, article, or magazine. Make a note to do some journaling about what you have read.
Make a playlist of favourite songs to listen to in December.
Your December Mission (if you choose to accept it)
Choose a notebook or journal that you love, and document a memory every day this month. You can simply journal, but feel free to add a photo and embellishments of your choice.
Bonus: start thinking about your word for 2024 if you haven’t already. You can see how I go about it here. Around the middle of the month I will host a chat here on Substack, so we can talk about this process.
If you plan to share about the workshop on social media use #journalyourwordoftheyear so we can follow along.
I’ll touch base with you again around the middle of the month. In the meantime you can join in the chat to share and get support.
