5 things for the weekend 25.23
personal canon, grandpa's organizational rule, creativity and your space, a long comic, read caribbean month
I’m having a relatively quiet June in comparison to others years. Usually I’m not only running my own creative photo challenge, but also doing at least two others. This year I decided against running a challenge, mostly because of how hard Instagram has made it to create community through hashtags. I’m hoping to find a way to reformat things, so I can do it again, because I do love the creative boost I get.
So this month I am using that time to work on making my creative and business ecosystem work smoothly and mindfully instead. And work on the garden.
I’m a woman possessed this year, with a number of projects that I want to get through by the end of the month. But also taking time to relax and read in my swing, or spend time sketching in the garden.
Have I mentioned that this is my favourite time of year?
5 Things
1. I thoroughly enjoyed this essay from
on creating a personal canon, and how it can help you to see what really matters to you. She goes even deeper with detailed steps to create your own.2. Growing up my mum’s mantra was “ A place for everything, and everything in its place”, and it totally meshes with this grandpa’s organizational rule. He adds an important step which I completely agree with.
3. If you ever feel like you just can’t be creative in your space, it might be your body’s way of trying to tell you something. (via
)4. The creator of The Oatmeal shares eight things they’ve learnt about creativity in a long comic.
5. Maybe I should have led with this: it’s Read Caribbean Month! Learn more about this initiative from its founder and learn how you can participate.
