5 things for the weekend 25.10
doodle birds, the artist's way, cream cheese brownie bread, join yarns, why to dnf
I’ve been doing some tidying up and decluttering in the studio, and I have been coming across some old projects, some completed, some not finished, and it’s been kind of eye opening. At the risk of sounding to full of myself I have been feeling kind of amazed at how great some of them are. I keep telling myself “Dang, you’re so creative, and you have had all these amazing ideas!”
In a world where there’s so much noise and content, and one can end up feeling lost in it all, it’s nice to remind myself that my creativity is alive and well, and doesn’t need to be shared to be great.
So let me remind you, ”Dang, you’re so creative, and you have had all these amazing ideas!”
5 Things
1. Here’s a fun creative exercise for young and old: make squiggle birds! This is a great way to turn doodles into something fun.
2. Paige Gardener details how she fell in love with creating again while going through The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. I have started and stopped this program a few times, but feel really compelled to give it a go again now.
3. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into a slice of this delectable cream cheese brownie bread!
4. Build your knitting skills with these methods for joining a new ball of yarn while knitting.
5. Several years ago it would have been unthinkable for me to mark a book as DNF (did not finish). I firmly believed that eventually I would enjoy every book if I gave it a big enough chance. But I started encountering books that I just couldn’t stand, (and/or were badly written), and discovered the joy of the DNF! Here Shannon shares her similar journey, and how being able to DNF enhanced her reading life. Do you DNF books?

I am adding that brownie bread recipe to my make very soon list. It looks scrumptious and yes I have started DNFing books. It doesn't happen often but there are too many to read to waste time on something that I just can't get into.
