5 things for the weekend 24.17
hand winding yarn, summer rolls, make a tote bag, modify knitting gauge, books about trees
I’m finally starting to feel like myself again, after having a the cold, unfortunately on our long weekend away. I spent most of it in bed, but did read two books from start to finish, and completed a knitting project. it’s now the end of my son’s Spring Break, so we’re back to our regular routine on Monday. For me that means picking up the pace with content and projects for The Organised Crafterbrain and the Planning Circle, and going full speed ahead on Spring cleaning.
What’s ahead for you as we start May?
5 Things
1. You bought a beautiful hank of yarn for a project, but then realised it needs to be wound! If you don’t have a swift and ball winder, here’s how you can wind it by hand.
2. I just learnt that traditionally Vietnamese Spring and Summer Rolls are meant to be made as you eat them, not prepared before hand. It’s a wonderful family/community way to share a meal. Read more here, and get a recipe too!
3. Make a chic cross body tote bag from an old pair of jeans.
4. If you find it difficult to get the correct gauge for a knitting pattern, this tutorial at CocoKnits explains how you can modify your gauge to make sure you knit the correct size.
5. In honour of the recently passed Earth Day here’s a list of great books about trees. At the very top are two that I have loved.

I do have a swift and ball winder but sometimes need to hand wind if something gets tangled so will try the thumb method. Also love that cartoon lol!!
