5 things for the weekend 24.14
why we read, types of yarn balls, gochujang meatballs, free knitting pattern, art workshop
I’ve had finishing things on my mind lately. I love working on multiple projects, and reading multiple books at a time, but there comes a time when we need to finish things. Sometimes it’s because there’s a deadline, like in time for book club (ahem!), or a gift you need to give. Other times it’s simply because you can’t wait to use or wear that thing you’re making. I’m in that space now where I want certain things done and put into use, so I am focusing on finishing for the net little bit. And the best part? I then get to start a whole new bunch of projects!
What have you finished lately? What will you finish next?
5 Things
1. Why do you read? And how did you start? Jane Goodall tells us her story in this letter to children about reading.
2. Did you know that there are 12 different types of yarn balls? I was today years old! This article from Interweave breaks it down, and shares how to use each kind.
3. Sheetpan. Sticky. Gochujang chicken. Say no more! I will definitely make these meatballs.
4. It’s time for summer knitting! Try this free Picot tee pattern from Hobbii and designer Mil y un hilo.
4.Join artist Alison Wells in a Grateful Celebration free 5-Day Challenge from April 25th.
News from The Callaloo Collective
The Sister Reads Book Club meets this Sunday at 10 a.m. EST to discuss Tom Lake by Ann Patchett. You can find all the event details in the group.
I’ve updated the shop on Patreon with a few new printables including a simple project planner, a full 120 page craft supply and project tracker, and a 30-day journal with prompts. A word of advice to iPhone users: when purchasing do so from a browser and not the Patreon app, as Apple will add on a $3.00 fee.
I am:
Reading: Neruda on the Park* by Cleyvis Natera
Eating: Empanadas
Watching: New Amsterdam

I've been pretty productive. Finished 6 knitted items in March - 2 dishcloths, 1 hat, a shawl, a cardigan/bulky jacket, and a pullover. Also made some cards. Now its time to cast on some new stuff and also finally get back to sewing.
