5 things for the weekend 23.38
greta gerwig's 10 books, pineapple pancakes, gorgeous bookshelves, paying attention, planning party
I’ve embarked on a much needed clear out of my office and studio. The bulk of the insulation and painting work was completed last year, and I was able to carve out spaces for work and play, but was still surrounded by boxes and piles of random items. As I am now in a major making people for Christmas, I needed to get rid of as much clutter as possible, so spent the better part of two afternoons this week going through the majority, and making space to add a large table for crafting, plus better organizing my painting space. There’s still quite a bit to be done, but I am feeling more motivated and energised to create. Clutter is like visual noise to me, and this introvert needs quiet in both my ears and my mind.
Once I am totally done, I will share a studio tour!
5 Things
1. Greta Gerwig, now famed director of the Barbie movie talks about ten books she recommends over at One Grand Bookstore. I’ve read two of them, and heard of three more. And the TBR grows again!
2. What does it mean to “pay attention?” How can we work mindfully throughout our day? Ryder Carroll of Bullet Journal explains how he uses his system to do exactly this. I immediately adopted a couple of his techniques.
3. It’s been a while since I’ve made pancakes, so this version from the BBC’s Nadiya is definitely making me want to serve up a big stack!
4. As you know, I used to be a big scrapbooker, but that has fallen off in recent years. I’m hoping that the Planning Party with Jennifer Wilson of Simple Scrapper will set me up for 2024. She had me at “planning”!
5. There’s just something comforting about being surrounded by well-stocked bookshelves. Have a gander through this gallery of stunning bookshelf ideas and live vicariously along with me!
