5 things for the weekend 23.33
free art workshop, quick chicken dish, halloween ideas, better self-care
The past week has been a mixed bag: semi-busy, family responsibilities, getting back into my work stride, mercurial weather, and not much happening on the crafty front. Just like the seasons I think I am in transition, not just personally, but also business wise. I am on the cusp of making some changes in what I offer: I am still searching for the best way to provide support to multi-passionate creatives like you, and make something truly meaningful out of the Modern Makers Collective (including a name change to better reflect the community). I’m also noticing that September is a time when I get retrospective and start effecting transformation. Probably something to do with realising that the year is coming to a close. How about you? Is this is a season of transformation?
5 Things
1. I had a wonderful artsy romp with Tamara Laporte and other amazing artists during the Kaleidoscope Taster Session in July, so it was a no-brainer to sign up for the taster Week for Lifebook 2024. Join in to get two weeks of amazing art classes and freebies!
2. With only eight ingredients needed you can get this sticky honey soy baked chicken dish on the table in under an hour.
3. The spooky season is here! Are you throwing a party, or just decorating for fun? Get Halloween ideas here.
4. Psychiatrist Dr. Pooja Lakshmin argues that real self-care goes beyond quick fixes like yoga class, or cleansing juices. Find out what she recommends instead in this podcast.
5. Too busy for full sized novels? Try these nine bite-sized fantasy stories instead. Bonus: they all have happy endings.

“It was suffused with a weak, academic light—different from Plano, different from anything I had ever known—a light that made me think of long hours in dusty libraries, and old books, and silence.”
