5 things for the weekend 23.27
summer meals, free crochet pattern, barbara kingsolver, zadie smith
I’m writing to you in a state of exhausted happiness after a fairly extended trip over to the US. Unfortunately our connecting flight through London was cancelled, and we ended up with an unplanned overnight stay. It all turned out well, but we are now acclimatising to the time change, catching up on lost sleep, and hanging out with family. So this is a late, and abbreviated letter this week! I’ll be back to our regular schedule for the rest of July.
5 Things
1. Zadie Smith has a new novel coming out later this year, her first historical fiction. In this essay she explains how she tried and failed to avoid any mention of Charles Dickens.
2. Summertime and the grilling is easy! Here are some ways to jazz up your corn on the cob.
3. Make a beautiful summer poncho with a free crochet pattern from Expression Fiber Arts.
4. Prepare these fresh and tasty melon & prosciutto skewers to serve at your next hot weather meal.
5. Barbara Kingsolver talks to the Guardian about her double prize-winning novel Demon Copperhead.
